Rejection, opposition, accusation, slander, mistreatment, imprisonment, and bankruptcy are some of the adversities that confront us on our journey through life. They can come at unexpected times from unexpected places and from the people we least expect. When adversities come from those closest to us, we feel betrayed, alone, and abandoned. The pain goes deep and we wonder if life will ever be the same. But God allows us to experience adversities to test us and produce qualities in our character that will ultimately make us better people.
Joseph learned this as he experienced rejection from his older brothers. Their rejection produced a chain of adversities that culminated in imprisonment. The author shares similar experiences as she journeys on her Christian pilgrimage. If we can see the hand of the Potter at work in our adversities, breaking, shaking, molding, and shaping our lives, then we will patiently endure and come through the Potter's House as vessels of honor fit for the Master's use.
