An Irish Experience Available at Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Howard Franklin’s An Irish Experience: Travel Tales Flowing from History, Humor & the Search for Home is a celebration of the uniqueness that is Ireland, an idiosyncratic and personal travelogue exploring the richness of Ireland through art, architecture, history, song, dance, poetry, and politics. Told with humor and grace, Franklin’s book examines how we relate to a sense of place, and accomplishes what only great writers can: leaving readers with a sense that they’ve actually been to the Emerald Isle.

As the late Nuala O’Faolain wrote in the Foreword, “Uniquely, Howard isn’t Irish, nor even the possessor of Irish roots. Yet his love for the Irish way of life is so genuine that it allows him to belong here. And his energy and enthusiasm for sharing his observations and insights into Irish history and culture not only complements the natural pull that Ireland exerts on so many, but makes him a warm-hearted spokesperson for the sights, sounds, and smells that form its magic.”

Franklin and his book will be at the All-Ireland Cultural Society’s 72nd Anniversary and 70th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on March 17th, at the Ambridge Event Center from 4 to 9 p.m.
