Jeremy Solomon was the founding administrator of Practicing Attorneys for Law Students (PALS) in New York City and is the co-author of three books. He received a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed the Radcliffe Publishing Procedures Course at Harvard University.
Sean Jones has over 20 years of experience in the book industry, managing bookstores, developing bookseller training programs, reviewing books, and consulting with authors. Sean has opened bookstores and trained management teams all over the United States as well as the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand, and has worked extensively with authors and artists throughout his career. Sean has a BS in History from Portland State University, and a BS in Sociology from the University of Oregon.
John Williams – After earning his MFA in Creative Writing and MA in Book Publishing, John began working in book marketing and publicity in order to help emerging authors reach their audience. Having spent three successful years as a freelance literary agent and publicist, he enjoys navigating authors through the interconnected webs of contemporary media. John is also the author of seven poetry collections, winner of numerous literary awards, and editor of The Inflectionist Review poetry journal.
Holly Tri has a BAS in Psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth and an MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College. Her editing experience spans various genres, from poetry and fiction to memoir and children’s books, as well as promotional and educational materials. In her pre-editing life, she spent over two years working with securities and investments. An avid reader, Holly has a keen eye for detail. She is also a published fiction writer and has a passion for ancient and medieval history.
Andrew Durkin is a composer and writer who has a PhD in English from the University of Southern California, where his mentor was Joseph Dane, author of What Is a Book? He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Annenberg Center for Communication at USC, where he worked with digital media pioneer Bob Stein. He lives in Portland, Oregon.
Masha Shubin – A quintessential Renaissance woman, Masha Shubin has over twenty years of experience in web and graphic design, with additional experience ranging from customer service to computer programming to marketing to management. As Creative Director for First Books/Inkwater Press, she makes full use of her creativity and skills. She has worked as photographer, international goodwill ambassador, mascot performer, movie producer, and theater director. She is also a self-published author with a series of children’s books.
Vanessa Verrill – An avid reader, Vanessa has a BA in Speech Communication and an MA in Teaching from Willamette University. She has worked in both Germany and South Korea as well as in customer service-based positions throughout the United States. Moving here from Helena, Montana, where she was the Membership Coordinator for the Montana Historical Society and worked directly with the Montana Historical Society Press, Vanessa brings with her a variety of skills learned from years in the school systems, non-profits, and large corporations.
Alan Bellman has over thirty years of financial experience in the printing and publishing industries. He has experience in the areas of estimating, cost accounting, finance and business management. He has earned degrees from the University of Michigan and The Ohio State University.
Paige Asay received her BS in Visual Communication Design from Western Oregon University, as well as a superlative Best Artist from her middle school. While at WOU she gained experience in branding, film, and media-related communications. She makes use of this experience as a Sound Engineer and Customer Service Rep here at First Books/Inkwater/Solomon Exam Prep. She has a strong admiration for mass media, coffee, and Greek mythology.
