JACK ENGELHARD is the internationally acclaimed author of the best seller Indecent Proposal which was translated into 22 languages and became a box office smash hit movie by Paramount Pictures. "My Father Joe", included in his award-winning book Escape From Mount Moriah, was brought to the screen by Canadian filmmaker Nikila Cole and featured at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.


John Cassell was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Atlantic City High School (New Jersey) in 1965 and the University of New Mexico in 1969. 


He traveled to Europe and North Africa in 1969, then throughout the United States, working as a dishwasher, truck driver, and various other blue collar jobs until 1972 when he did a year’s postgraduate work at Kent State University (Ohio). He enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving with the Strategic Air Command until 1976.


In 1977, he entered the University of New Mexico School of Law on the G.I. Bill, graduating magna cum laude in 1980.


Since 1981 he has served with the New Mexico State Police and District Attorney Offices in that state, as well as the Office of the Attorney General of American Samoa. Cassell is married and the father of five children, Grandfather of three and soon slated, God willing, to be a great grandfather of one.  He retired in 2006 and lives in the American Southwest.
